Abstract: Objective To study distribution of Ceratopogonidae in Liaoning province.Methods Using bed-curtain trap,light trap and insect net to collect midges,collecting the data of Ceratopogonidae about taxonomy in Liaoning.Results Total 7 genera 54 species known were reported in Liaoning province,of which blood-sucking midges are 2 genera 49 species,namely 48 species of genus Culicoides including a new species,Culicoides donggangensis sp.nov.and 1 species of genus Lasiohelea;unsucking-blood midges are 4 genera 5 species,namely 1 species of genus Bezzia,1 species of genus Dasyhelea,2 species of genus Atrichopogon and 1 species of genus Palpmyia.Distribution of the known species was listed in Liaoning province.Conclusion 1 new species was described and illustrated and the known species and their distribution in Liaoning were listed.The type specimens were deposited in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention,Shenyang Command,Shenyang 110034,China.Culicoides donggangensis sp.nov.(Fig.1)The new species is somewhat allied to Culicoides circumscriptus Kieffer,1918,but it distinctly different from the latter in the wing spots of cell R_{5 and M1,and position of sensilla coeloconica on antenna,antennal ratio(AR) of female;and in the shape of caudal margin of ninth tergum and aedeagus of male. Position of sensilla coeloconica on antenna of the new species is also somewhat allied to Culicoides subcircumscriptus Yu,1982,but they are distinctly different in the wing spots and aedeagus of male.Female: Wing length 1.20 mm.Eyes separated,without interfacetal hairs; antennal ratio(AR) 1.01,sensilla coeloconica of antennal present on segments 3,11-14;third segment of palpus with a sensory pit,palpal ratio(PR) 2.36,proboscis head ratio(P/H) 0.63,mandible with 15 teeth.Wing with pale and dark spots.Abdomen spermathecae 1,70 μm×55 μm.Male: Caudal margin of ninth tergum with deep "V" excavation.Aedeagus basal arch bow-shape,extending to 2/5 of total length of aedeagus,tip sharp,extending to the lateral.Parameres separate.Holotype ♀,paratype 3♀♀,3♂♂,collected on 1988-08-05,from Donggang,Liaoning province,China.}
