Abstract: Objective This survey aims at grasping the density and the growth and decline of flies with seasons in urban area of Zhangye,and finding out the characteristics of distribution of the flies and their patterns of growth and decline with seasons,to provide scientific basis for their control.Methods Cage trap method.Results The density of flies in urban area of Zhangye was 4.30 flies every cage.Musca domestica is the dominant species.The density of flies in greenwood is highest,which is 7.96 flies every cage,the following is in surrounding of restaurant,which is 4.85.Two peaks of density appeared in May and September,respectively.The density is the highest in May(10.93 flyies every cage).Conclusion Musca domestica is the dominant fly species in urban area of Zhangye with a high density from April to September.Some control measures should be taken to reduce density of flies to prevent infectious diseases.
