Abstract: Objective In order to explore the sound environmentally chemicals for termite control,the toxic effects of ivermectin against the workers of Coptotermes formosanus and Reticulitermes flaviceps were determined. Methods To let the worker termites contact with the ivermectintreated sands or feed the wood block treated by ivermectin solution. Results All of the worker termites of C.formosanus and R.flaviceps tested would died within 24 hours after treatment when they contacted with sands treated by 100 mg/L ivermectin solution. When the workers of C.formosanus and R.flaviceps were fed with the wood blocks treated by different concentrations of ivermectin solution,the mortality of termites tested increased as the time of treatment. When the concentration of ivermectin solution for the treatment of wood block was higher than 25 mg/L,most of termites fed on the wood blocks would died. Conclusion The ivermectin has good toxic effects on the workers of C.formosanus and R.flaviceps. It is suggested that ivermectin has good future in termite control
