Abstract: Description and illustrations of a new species of the genus Simulium Latreille collected from laoshan,Qingdao,China are given on adult,pupal and larval stages.All the specimens are kept in the Medical Entomology Collection Gallery,Academy of Military Medical Sciences,Beijing. The new species is assigned to the vernum group and closely related to Simulium(Nevermannia) vernum Macquart 1826[Eusimlium latipes Meigen,1804],S. (N.) jilinense Chen and Cao,1983[E. jilinense Chen and Cao,1983],S. (N.) xinbinense Chen and Cao,1983[E.xinbinse Chen and Cao,1983],however,it is easily recognized to be a member of the vernum group of the Subgenus Nevermannia by the shape of genital fork,cibarium of female,median sclerite,ventral plate of male,pupal respiratory organ and cocoon,larval head sposts,cleft. Holotype ♀,paratype 2♂,3♀,2 pupa,4 mature larvae,Qingdao Laoshan,Shandong,45m (36.3°N,120.5°E),18 may 1994.
